would any body paraphrase it, plz?

Being a manager is a tough job because it is always two jobs at once. You have to get your own work done and also be looking out for a team. The higher up the scale we go, the further away from our original job we get. And often no one bothers to train us as to what the new job – management – actually entails. Sure we go on the odd course – and some are very odd: I speaks as one who has made Lego™ bridges, done jigsaws that are face down, been on canoeing weekends and all in the name of management training – but we don't specifically train to be managers. Management is something we sort of pick up as we go along. Sure there are a few good instinctive managers, but invariably we stumble along picking up the odd hint and clue here and there – it is a very hit and miss operation.

To be a manager is a hard work because you are doing two works at the same time. You must complete your own work tasks and also supervise a team. The higher manager position we work in, the more differenent work from our own work are doing.

  • And usually there is no training for the position of manager.
  • Of course we have passed several courses which were quite strange - buildin LEGO bridges, collecting puzzles without seeing a picture, cannoeing and this all should teach us about managing but we have no special training for managers.

Some people are good at it naturally, but just have to try a bunch of different things - and some work well while others do not.
