would and past tense

If I am not wrong , would is used to talk about past habits and imaginary things etc

However , I see that would is used to talk about past events just like past tense

For example : What would you do yesterday ?

I generally see this pattern in movies and TV shows

I don't mean this as a criticism of you personally, but it surprises me how many people can reach a pretty competent level of English without knowing what I would consider very basic rules about spacing. It is extremely common here to see missing spaces and
