Would and could in conditional 1 (past real)

Hi.

Could you please let me know if I should avoid using would or could in a conditional 1(past real) sentence? I'm afraid the examples below could also mean conditional 2 even though I don't want them to, without proper context at least.

eg.

I would be happy, if he helped me. (I was happy, when he helped me.)

It could be good, if you were there. (It was great, when you were there.)

Thank you very much in advance.

I would be happy if/when he helped me. It would be good if/when you were there. These can be Conditional II in the present or simple statements of past habitual events.

  • I would be happy if/when he helped me.
  • It would be good if/when you were there.
  • These can be Conditional II in the present or simple statements of past habitual events.
  • Context will reveal which is meant.
