Would

"Her television appearances include parts on Night Court, Silk Stalkings, Riptide, Three's Company, Knight Rider[1] and Wings, and a guest appearance as a villain on the television adaptation of Roger Corman's film Black Scorpion in what would be her final role."

Why is "in what would be" used? I mean I don't understand what this line is saying. Is it a type of would usages?

"in what would be" is a past-tense version of "in what will be", i.e. expressing "future in the past".
