Would

Hello teachers,

The other day the doors were locked and I could not get in so when someone asked me why I didn't come,I said " all the doors were locked and how would I get in". Is this correct ?

Besides how would I get in/do it/ take her, here the would is past tense right ?

Thank you.

No. You can say:

1. All the doors were locked and I couldn't get in.
2. All the doors were locked, so how was I supposed to get in?

(2) sounds more compl
