Would

If you are going to San Francisco, you would wear flowers in your hair.

vs.

If you were going to San Francisco, you would wear flowers in your hair.


What is the difference in context between the two sentences. Could somebody explain it to me, please?

Tense sequence. If present tense, ... would ... seldom works well.

Use If present, ... will ... and If past, ... would ... and you'll be correct almost 100% of the time.
