Would

A cop asking a woman about a crimInal who lives in the same village as she does.

Cop: We would be honored if you can tell us where he could be now.
Woman: Sure, why not.

Is the use of would correct in cop's sentence? Any correction needed in the cop's sentence? I drew this sentence form a movie. Thank you.

'We would be honored if you would tell us..' And 'We would be honored if you told us..' have the same meaning?

Yes, near enough. The first one feels a little more elaborate.
