Would

Hi everybody,

How come "WOULD" is used in the passages give below? I am to some extant sure but not completely and going to recognize. Please, you can check weather are these correct identification or not? And if possible can you write if clauses and give me the links where these are explained.

1- Ladies and gentleman , just to inform you, we are currently under army escort. There is no reason to be alarmed. Our flight is getting redirected to Andrews air force base in Maryland only as a safty precaution. At this time, we ask you that you remain in your seats with your seats belts fastened. Thank you.

It worked. Now would be the time for this man to make his move.

Identification = Implicit conditional 2

2- Sophia, we have a problem. What? Our courier just emailed me. The plan now has a U.S. military escort. Someone told the authorities there is a WMD on board. How? Who would know? Is it possible someone saw you had off the case? No. This could jeopardize everything that we have been working towards.

What if we use the the virus? Once they force to plan to land. We can expose everyone on board it --- no, given what happened on board the boat, we now know that they would all die immediately. There would not be time enough for the virus to expand as far as we need it to.

I can recognize would in the 1st passage.
Identification = In the 2nd paragraph, implicit conditional 2

3- I know you and director Sterling have grown close. And as you have been made aware. I was forced to dismiss him. For insubordination, no less. Yes, I heard. Now I do not know if he shared any of these notions with you, but I would never want you to be swayed by hearsay.

Identification = Implicit conditional 2

4- Ladies and gentleman, this is your caption speaking. I am happy to report that the security threat was proved non-credible and jets flanking the plan have been called off. Why would they call them off before we landed?

Identification = To ask the reason
Can we write the last sentence that way?

Why did they call them off before we landed?

Thank you

While "would" is used conditionally, it remains a modal auxiliary verb, which has a variety of meanings by its nature. " "Would," too, has different meanings. " expresses disbelief or the inability to understand how something could have happened.

While "would" is used conditionally, it remains a modal auxiliary verb, which has a variety of meanings by its nature. For example, the modal auxiliary verb "could" might mean the past of "can" as in "I could run fast when I was a child," but it might mean the future possibility as in "Maybe he could help you tomorrow."
