Would

On my way to school today, I stopped to watch two little kids playing in a mud puddle. One of them would fall face down in the mud, get up laughing and then shove the other one in. Every inch of those kinds, including their hair, was covered with black cozy mud. They might be in trouble when they got home, but right then all they cared about was that mud puddle.

What does the 'would' in bold imply? Which 'would' is it among here?

Isn't to fall face down in the mud, get up laughing and then shove the other one in a single process, which was observed one day, rather than repeated action?

Hi,

I saw them do all those things several times today.

ie They kept repeating the sequence of actions.

You saw it today? What a coincident.

Then isn't it #11 in the dictionary the URL of which I presented, 'typical behavior'?

No. It's what I said it was, repeated behaviour in the past.

You are misunderstanding this #11, particularly the part I have marked in red.

I thought it was one secuence of actions. How did you know they kept repeating it? Because of that 'would', nothing else?
