Would

Hi,

I have two versions, one person telling another: You would be a fool to believe that bosses 'care' about their workers.
The other version is 'cared' instead of 'care'.
I believe 'care' is right here. Is it?

I agree. If it read 'You would be a fool if you believed that bosses cared', then 'cared' would be appropriate.
