I think b) is best because "every night" helps express the habit of pleading. Therefore, would is not really necessary in that clause.

Everything except "sleep early" sounds normal to my American ears. I doubt I'd choose to say "sleep early" voluntarily, but rather would say something similar to what Barbara described.
