Would

Dear Group,

Can somebody advise me as to when I should use "would" and "will". I know that "would" is used as simple past tense for "will" and also in making suggestions. But, in what other circumstances one should use "would' instead of "will".

I would appreciate it, if someone could comment on this.

I've been doing alot of reading on this particular thing (modal) but till to-date it still confuses me, anyway your explanation was explicit - thank you.
