Sir,

I am very confused abot usage of the modal verb "Would".

can Any body give some sort of example to clear the usage of "would".

I would prefer to make up some examples myself, but this page:

Is this correct? I'd rather be poor and happy than rich and sad.

I would have said: I'd rather be rich and happy than poor and sad.
