'Worth saving'

Hi, there!

- "Life is worth saving". What does it mean?

- The Senate voted 42- 37 = The Senate voted 42 against 37 (votes). (is it OK?).

Thanks,

Deborah

Hello Deborah, Can you give more context for the phrase please? Don't say 42 against 37 - they may have voted 42 in favor and 37 against it, or 42 against it and 37 in favor.

Hello, Grammar Geek.

Thanks for your help. OK. I got "...life is worth saving" from a news. In the end it says: "He is against capital punishment because even a guilty life is worth saving."

Thanks once more,

Deborah

In this case, it means not killing that person. He doesn't believe in executing people for their crimes because you should prtect the lives even of people who have committed crimes.
