Worst case outcome

What's it called when someone uses something you said, then extrapolates it to the worst possible outcome?

Thanks.

I thought there was a specific word to describe the action

eg.

Person 1 Running with a knife is dangerous I never do it might cut your finger

Person 2: yeah or you run along trip over stab yourself in the heart have to go to the hospital then they find out that you need a heart transplant and have to wait 3 months on a waiting list before your seen and that whole time
