Worldwide

"Today, the fruit is grown in more than 96 countries worldwide"

Hello, could you tell me the speech part of "worldwide" here in this sentence. I know that the word can be an adjective and an adverb but I can not figure out which part is correct in this sentence because I think "worldwide" can modify "countries" as an adjective or "is grown" as an adverb here and the meaning of both is the same or similar. What do you native English speakers think? Please help me and I really appreciate your help as usual.

No. "Worldwide countries" makes no sense. A country is in only one place in the world. A country can't be "worldwide".

It's an adverb that means "throughout the world". "Countries throughout the world" makes sense. "worldwide" modifies "countries".
