"Car accidents are worldwide the first cause of death".
MY teacher say that this sentence is correct.. so I thought that I could place worldwide after the verb to be.. Why is " 840 million people are worldwide suffering from hunger" wrong? Maybe it is odd, but not gramattically wrong.. ? people say "it is worldwide known" even though "it is known worldwide is better".

Well, this is quite difficult to explain since in English, the position of an adverb in a sentence is more flexible than other parts of speech.

As a native American English speaker, I would not say this version: "Car accidents are

Some adverbs are OK in this position - adverbs of negation and time. These adverbs modify, or limit the extent of the verb, "suffer"
