World's Biggest Sporting Event

I just saw a commercial for the "World's Biggest Sporting Event". What might that be? Why, the Rugby World Cup, of course.

Right.
The US is actually in the finals, having apparently qualified by beating Spain. If one American in a thousand was even aware that there was a national team, I'd be surprised. If one in ten thousand actually watches a game, I'd be floored. (If they weren't on pay-per-view, I might. I might even Tivo one. But I wouldn't adjust my schedule to catch one.)
I'd expect the same level of excitement in Japan, Romania, Georgia, Argentina, and Uruguay, who also made the finals.

The commercial was wrong, it's actually the world's 3rd largest sporting event, after the Olympics and the Football World Cup.

[nq:1]Shame, USA had a couple of good games. They almost won one of them.[/nq]
According to the web site, they did win one against Japan, 39-26.

It's about the same level of excitement in the four non-rugby states of Australia, apart from a few ex-pats.
