World War I or First World War

In case I am writing a formal text, should I be using

"during World War I" or
"during the First World War" (First with capital F or lower lettercase f) ?

Or is it all the same?

As far as register is concerned, there's no difference. "First" should be capitalized because it's technically a part of the name.

True, thank you for that. Somehow it didn't occur to me no matter how obvious it was.
