Working on a mission statement:

Hi, I'm working on a mission statement for a business and need some help. Here's the slimmed down version of the statement:

"The Watercolor Shop is a business that promotes watercolor art through the selling and workshop of high quality watercolor products."

This business will be an art shop that majors on watercolors. It will be divided into two areas: a merchandise area and a workshop area that gives people the opportunity to try out the various products before they buy as well as being able to attend art seminars.

So here's my question: Is the use of workshop correct in my mission statement? It's a noun and selling is a verb, but it flows nicely and it sounds like it might be correct. Please help me out.

Thanks,

Jordan Ladd

Thanks for your reply. Your confusion is the same as my wife's. What I mean is that I want a workshop area that allows the customer to try out and experiment with the different brands of watercolors I will have available. Can you think of a way of saying this succinctly in conjunction with the verb 'selling.'

Thanks again for your response.

The problem is that you sell, but the customer tries it out, and so you will need to shift the viewpoint of the message to have two subjects.

You are looking for a concise way to say "We provide a place for people to try things out," right.

We will promote the art of water color painting by providing a space where our customers can test, experiment with, and purchase the highes

That is exactly what I want to say! Thank you so much for helping me out, I'm going to go with your changes.

With much gratitude,
