"working busily" or "busily working"

Hi all,

I have a question about where to put an adverb in a sentence. Which one is the right one?

a. several clerks were busily working at their desks
b.several clerks (work, busily) were working busily at their desks

a. Sandy is in the living room watching television. At this time yesterday, she was also watching television
b. Sandy is in the living room watching television. At this time yesterday, she also was watching television

Can I say both?

Thanks a lot

A is correct both times, and I would say no, you cannot say both! Obviously it's understandable, but would be seen as quite beginner English!

You can say both in both cases. The first pair sound equally natural; of the 2nd pair, A sounds a bit more natural to me there.

PS: No, not 'beginner English' at all, Akshay. They are all fine and native.

In normal speech, we rarely use "busily" in contexts similar to this. in fact I don't remember hearing anyone saying "working busily...". I would just say" several clerks were busy working at their desks".
