Work smartly

Work smartly or smart.
On Internet I found "work smarter"(comparative) but not work smartly
Isn't "smartly" the right adverb?

This use of the adjective with a non-copulative verb is a recent development. It should be confined to the billboards and TV ads that popularized it in marketing aphorisms. "Smartly" is grammatical, but it sounds funny there.
