Work out(chess)

Hi
In:
"The working out of chains of moves without phisically moving the pieces",
the dictionary says that 'work out' means 'to formulate or develop'.Does it mean that it didn't exist before working out?

Thanks in advance

I suppose you could say that, when you look at a chess board, all the possible future moves exist, in the sense of future possibilities. When you work out a sequence of future moves, it means you think about and choose the moves that you think are best. Of course, you also have to work out what your opponent is likely to do.

Does it mean obtain the chain?

No.

It means you consider the result of a sequence of moves.

But you need to think to find the moves of the chain.....

Working them out means finding them.

But finding doesn't necessarily indicate looking into the result.

What is your opinion then?

I already told you my opinion. I don't know what else to say.

I don't understand why this expression is causing you so much trouble. It's very common.
eg Can you work out the answer to 7 X 10 - 20?

eg
0
So can I always replace work out with find?
0
No.

eg Yesterday I found a dollar.

eg You can sometimes find the answer to a problem by accident. But 'work out the answer' means you make an effort.
