Would this be a suitable work experience letter to an events company?
Dear Sir/Madam,
I’m currently a student of Home Learning College studying the CompTIA courses and I am very interested in the possibility of a period of work experience at EMSCO- Event Management Solutions based in Reading.
In a fast-paced environment, it is important to be flexible, communicative, and prepared for meeting deadlines quickly. In addition to possessing these attributes, I am confident that I could make a valuable contribution, using information technology and my excellent organisational and communicational skills as well as my eye for detail skills.
I love organising events and have had experience organising events for my peers and the community. I will highlight an event I’ve organized to give you an insight. I will point out that I have also organized many more events, details I would like to provide if you require.
During my time in sixth form at Newlands Girls’ School I was chosen to lead a group of students to do something for the community. We decided to take the U3A, University of the Third Age on a boat cruise along the Thames. I was appointed leader as my peers knew of my leadership, communication and commitment skills and throughout this leadership I was respected. I took on responsibility with liaising with the leadership management in school and with the U3A. To find out what U3A was all about and build relationships I went into lessons during my free time and helped them develop their IT skills. This allowed me to form a good bond between them. As we had to pay expenses not only for ourselves but the 30/40 members of U3A which totalled a cost of about £2000 we had to organise charity events which I co-organised. I was present at every event helping out as I felt it would show my commitment to the project. I was also responsible for the publicity of the events, gaining permission from senior staff which often required meetings with staff to discuss our plans. I also had responsibility of the budget and making sure everything tallied but as a leader I oversaw everything.
The day itself was a success and what satisfied me most was to see that my team and I gave the U3A a day to remember. It made my day to see all our hard work pay off and be recognised for our efforts.
I feel that with events I’ve organised and position of responsibilities I have taken on; my communicational skills have improved considerably as this has required me to speak to people from various different backgrounds on both a personal and professional level. I show my interest and passion in event management by taking on responsibility and voluntarily organising events for the benefit of others.
I believe that by carrying out work experience at your organization, a company with an excellent reputation would enable me to build up my knowledge of a range of aspects of the Event Management sector and stand me in good stead for my chosen career.
I have attached my CV for your review. Thank you for taking time out to read this letter and I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
Yours Faithfully
Tameena Hussain
