Work by deadlines?

Hi

Some people live by their past. 'Live by ' here is natural.
But is it possible to [work by] deadlines?

This company doesn't [work by] deadlines, it's main objective is to deliver quality not speed.

Thanks!

Yes, I can understand that— either they are reluctant to change their minds or they believe in their previous decisions very strongly.
