Please teach me if this words usage is proper or not.

It's a payday today, so it is to blame for a long line of people waiting in front of a cash dispenser.

mxreader,

Thanks for your comment.

I think it might be better using "this" instead of "a" cash dispenser

or "cash dispensers".

I feel " the " long line sounds unfamiliar in that sentence.

If you may, could you explain why "a" should be changed into "the"?

Do you have any idea about my question as to "be to blame" ?

it is to blame is correct and grammatical.

CalifJim,

Thank you very much for answering my question.

I understand now. Thanks a lot.

"Blame" is more usually, although not exclusively, reserved for people. Being a payday would account for the long line might be a better construction in this context. "to blame for" is grammatically correct but arguably not the best choice of words.

Montur,

Thank you very much.

The explanation about the usage of "blame" is useful.

Many thanks.
