Words for expressing causes

I would like to combine the following two sentences.

1. Plating is not deposited on the inner wall of the material.

2. The phenomenon is caused by the 1.

Can I say that;

The phenomenon that is caused by the plating not being deposited .....

Or, is there any more common way to express it?

I learnt some words for expressing causes, such as

"result from", "result in", "lead to" etc.

But when using them, I need to make a noun phrase.

Are there any words for expressing causes

which are followed by a clause?

Thank you in advance for your help.
