Words after a dash in plural or in the singular

Hi. Should the underlined words be in plural, eg beach chairs and boxes?

There is room for all our stuff -- beach chair, tents, tackle box, fishing rods and others.

I know it's unusual to see these countable nouns without an article, but that's OK in a list like this.

So there is only one beach chair and one tackle box only among the

I just thought it was strange, at least to me, that the two phrases "beach chair" and "tackle box" were without English articles (in front of them). Then, after thinking about it for a while, I realized that they are meant as single items, one beach chair and one tackle box. Thank you for your help.
