Wording in Cover letter ( help please)

At the recommendation of Mr. Sam Barn and Mrs. Betty Lose, I am writing to express my interest in an Environmental Engineering Internship with XXX Engineering. Over the past six months, I have had the opportunity to work with Sam and Betty on a wastewater project for my senior design class. During this time, I was able to learn more about XXX and reveal my aptitude for leadership, problem-solving, initiative, and detail to the project. An internship would provide me with the ideal opportunity to build on a continuing relationship, in hopes of a future career with XXX Engineering.

I am currently a senior at the Southern Methodist University working towards a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering with a second Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering and Sustainability& Development. As an undergraduate, I have balanced a rigorous course load, taking up leadership roles in several student organizations and involving myself in community service projects that have allowed me to enhance my skills relevant to this position. I also work as an undergraduate researcher in the water engineering laboratory, along with being a teaching assistant and currently leading two senior design projects. I am a firm believer in the importance of being well-rounded and taking on new challenges, and I believe, this shows through in my assortment of both academic and past work experiences. My experiences to date have given me a strong work ethic, and ability to find practical solutions to problems.
