Wording helps please?

Hi,Could you please check for me if I am correct in these sentences?I think both of them are not wrong, however "unexpected" sounds better and common?"Unsuspected" means "unknown"?This is an [ unexpected / unsuspected ]  illness. (Said a doctor)I met an [ unexpected / unsuspected ]  difficulty.I faced an [ unexpected / unsuspected ] problem.Cheersjohn Aki

It's the sentences that are correct or not, not you that is correct or not.

Yes, that's right. I would probably say all of them with "unexpected".

If something is unsuspected, it means you didn't suspect it. That means you weren't even thinking that it could happen. It never came to your mind that it would happen. Usually, but not always, it's something bad.
