Wording

Is the wording in this sentence correct? Somehow, it sounds like it is not.

"I had lost use of my computer."

I wouldn't call the omission incorect. I sometimes omit the article, but, like Philip, I more often use it.

To me, it has a sense something like, "We've lost power," in which case the article is hardly ever used. We might say, "We've lost our power," (referring to the electricity).

"I had lost use of my computer."

If you are referring to computer problems, a much more common way to say it is

'My computer wasn't working'.
