A English teacher's suggested revision is follow:

‘The restaurant opens almost on a daily basis.’
-> on a daily basis -> every day or daily

‘More than 230 western troops were killed in Afghanistan in the course of 2007.
-> in the course of 2007 -> in 2007

‘I’m going to make an effort to spend more quality time with my family.’
-> make an effort -> try

As a non-native speaker who have been learning English, I want to know that you, a native speaker of English, agree this. Thank you for your input on this.

As a learner, I too like suggested revision that is easy to understand, butany English proficiency tests are like before suggested revision. It seems that there is a cleavage between the exam writer and English teacher.
