Word similar to dictation

The word dictate means to speak while someone else writes down what you are saying. I am trying to find out if there is an equivalent word for the act of a person writing something out for someone else to copy down. The context is a lecturer dictating to their students and comparing it to the lecturer writing onto the board wile the students copy from that.
