Word order of 'time'

1: He went to in 2010.

2: In 2010, he went to .



The element of ‘time’ is normally at the end of a sentence, just like Sentence #1. But in Sentence #2, the time is placed in the beginning of the sentence. Compared with ‘2010’in Sentence #1, ‘2010’in Sentence #2 is more important. Am I right? Thanks for your help.

Yes, especially if you put a comma after 2010. The comma isn't really needed.

C.B., Thank you. I'm confused. Because Jacques Barzun says "the emphatic palces in a sentence are begining and end, the end being more so". According to this rule, the element of time in Sentence#1 should be more emphatic than that in Sentence #2.
