Word order "for example"

Hi!

I wrote a text for school and now I have to correct it and explain the errors (error analysis).
My only error was in the sentence: "This could for example be the class teacher, a designated guidance counselor, simply a parent or a good friend."
My teacher wrote that "for example" should be after "be" like this: "This could be for example the class teacher, a designated guidance counselor, simply a parent or a good friend."

How shall I explain this mistake?

Top answer

" I have sold a lot of flowers in my shop, for example: roses, orchids, lilies, gladiolas and baby's breath.

  • " I have sold a lot of flowers in my shop, for example: roses, orchids, lilies, gladiolas and baby's breath.

If you have a list of examples, they should directly follow the phrase "for example."

I have sold a lot of flowers in my shop, for example: roses, orchids, lilies, gladiolas and baby's breath.

It's not really a mistake in grammar. It is a more logical position of the phrase.
