Word order

Hi,
I have some questions about word order.

1) Great Britain is the largest island in Europe. The second largest (island) is Ireland. - Do I have to use the word ISLAND in the second sentence ?

2) Scotland is mountainous and Wales too. Is the sentence correct ?
I know that it´s better to write : Scotland and Wales are mountainous but can I use the first variant as well ?

3) The Romans built about 12,000 km of roads in Britain.
The Romans built in Britain about 12,000 km of roads. Which sentence is correct?

Thank you for your help,

Ann
