Ok, do these sentences all mean the same thing and are grammatically correct?

"You should do this so as to not let him recover."

Ok, do these sentences all mean the same thing and are grammatically correct?

"You should do this so as to not let him recover."

"You should do this so as not to let him recover."

I wouldn't say #1 is wrong, but it's a construction that educated people tend to avoid.

I find it awkward to place the words to not before a verb, but many people accept it.
I also think that not to let him recover is better rendered as to prevent him from recovering.
