Word meaning

Hello,

This is a one-sentence paragraph in an ISO standards document (the quotation marks are from me): 'The disposition of source records following a migration or conversion process should be authorized.' A member in our committee was adamant that the word 'following' in the sentence means 'in conformance with' or 'in accordance with.' I insisted that the word means 'immediately after (something)' or 'coming just after.' Do you think he is right? Would you please give me some explanation. Thank you. Agus Permadi

It's ambiguous, although I find his suggested meaning rather unlikely. If you mean 'after', why not just say 'after'?
