If a moderator needs to ask for a member's permission he would say something like this :"Can I move your question to the Vocabulary forum ?" or "Let me know if this is OK with you".

According to his message, MM did not mean to ask whether it was OK to move your question to another section. He just INFORMED you about what he was going to do.

We'll have to wait for Pastel's definitive interpretation of the text, WW, but the 'ride' seems to be just that: conveyance in a vehicle (sleigh?) or on a horse perhaps. The ride can indeed be described metaphorically as 'white' if that is a dominant characteristic of the journey.
