Word inclusion

Are both of these sentences correct, specifically is it possible with and without 'will'?

If you want a mortgage, the lender will expect you to have a steady job.

If you want a mortgage, the lender expects you to have a steady job.

Thanks.

Both are correctly written. Will implies that you have not yet visited the lender, but are getting advice. Otherwise, 'will' adds nothing to the comment.

The speaker could be talking of a future possibility, or of a general possibility. If it's a general possibility, then 'will' expresees certainty.
