Word 'inch'

This is on the movie "V for Vendetta"

"Every inch of me shall perish. Every inch, but one. An inch. It is small and it is fragile, but it is the only thing the world worth having. We must never lose it or give it away. We must never let them take it from us."

What mean "an Inch" in the third phrase? It could be 'integrity'? Or we just can't figure it out from the sentence?

This would be my answer. It seems to me that you would have to see the whole movie before you would know how to approach this.

I looked up in the dictionary and 'integrity' wasn't in the meanings of the word 'inch'. But it was what I guessed from the context of movie.

Anyway, thanks for the answer. Maybe somebody that has seen the movie could help.

That's always worth a try, but you won't find this in a dictionary. The word inch is clearly being used metaphorically here, and metaphoric meanings are not included in dictionaries.
