Word in Roy Orbison's "No Chain at All"

There's a word in this song I don't understand (and, probaby, some others I think I understand but I don't!). Would you please tell me what it is the woman won't let him do at 0:53, and again at 1:55? I had always thought he said "go", but on paying closer attention, I seem to hear something like "crawl" or "growl", which don't make much sense, I think.

The song is here:

You can google a song title and then 'lyrics' and get something like this: Most women want to chain you to promises and such They take a little freedom each time they let ya touch She didn't try to chain me that's why I turned around She let me taste my freedom and now I'm homeward bound You know I'm headin' on back to her I'm hearing her call The strongest chain in the world is no chain at all at all That's why I'm headin' on back to her she won't let me crawl The strongest chain in the world is no chain at all. At least one pretty woman in every sleepy town Would bargain with her lovin and try to tie me down I took what I was offered like most men probably would But teasin' in my memory was something twice as good You know I'm headin' on back to her I'm hearing her call The strongest chain in the world is no chain at all at all That's why I'm headin' on back to her she won't let me crawl The strongest chain in the world is no chain at all at all That's why I'm headin' on back to her, headin' on back to her, headin' on back to her, lovin my baby, headin' on back to her

Thanks for answering. It must have been a long time since I searched these lyrics in Google (I was going through the notebook where I tried to write down all of Orbison's lyrics some years ago, and this was under "Not Found"). I'll try to remember that many things must have been added to the web since I looked them up!

Anyway, crawl sounds kind of strange to me. In such a context,

I agree, the logic is unclear.
