is there a term for an adjective used as an adverb ( or vice versa)? I seem to remember such an entity from school 55 yrs ago.

An adverb that does not differ from the adjectival form is sometimes called a flat adverb
(I'm not sure if this term was in use 55 years ago!)
- He delivers the daily paper daily
