Word for taking good care

How do you call it when someone (male or female) takes good care of himself, with his hair, clothes, nails, skin and so on? Is there an adjective for it, as in "you have to look very ... if you want to work as a waiter"? Or when you look at a job offer in a newspaper, the company may say "good manners and a ... look are mandatory".

Thank you, Clive. Doesn't to groom only apply to hair? Is there a more general word which applies to the overall appearance?

No. It is generally neat, clean and tidy all over.

Sometimes "professional" is used for appearances.
"neat and orderly" is a synonym.
Well-groomed seems more like a school boy who has not had time to play in the mud puddles.

How would you put it in a job application context? "good manners and a professional / neat and tidy appearance are mandatory", is that how a company might put it?

It all depends on the particular position.

For a salesman, "a professional appearance and outgoing attitude"
For a busboy, " a neat and tidy appearance"
