Word for person asking a question

How do you call someone who asked a question? Like, when someone posts a question in a forum, then someone gives a wrong answer, and you want to correct the answer by saying "this is not what he (the person who asked the question) wanted". Is there another word for "the person who asked the question"?

"asker" is also possible though some people may find it strange.

Thank you. Which of these terms would you consider to be the least formal? "Inquisitor, interrogator, inquirer, questioner" all sound very formal to me.

Thank you I also considered "asker" but I've never seen anybody use it. What would you use yourself?

Common Forum slang is 'the original poster' or just 'the OP'.

Both "inquisitor" and "interrogator" suggest someone demanding answers from someone who does not wish to answer.
"The police chief interrogated the suspect."
"Inquirer" and "questioner" sound less aggressive.
"She called to inquire about the job vacancy"
Clive's phrase "Original Poster" is clear and effective.
