Word for "outside of engine"

I'm trying to find a word that means "outside of an engine" as an adjective. The construct that came to mind was extraengerial, but it seems that there is no word that means 'of, or pertaining to an engine" except perhaps enginous. Perhaps extra-enginous is the word.

A cowling is the cover for an engine (usually an airplane engine).

I don't know if this will help you.

Yes, you are absolutely right. There is no doubt in this regard. Here in India, we use the word "Cowling" or "Engine Cowl"
