word favorite

Hi,

I have a question on the use/usage ??? (which one should I use?) of the word "favorite." When I see the adjecitve "favorite," I tend to think it in terms of its dictionary definition (as I interprete it as), the one that he/she likes most. Now when I think of things I like most, I tend to think of one thing and not a multiple number of things, but sentences I come across have two or more favorite things on their list. Is that OK?

My favorite colors are red, blue and yellow.

My favorite pastimes are playing soccer, playing with kids and jumping a rope.

Also, is the term "jumping a rope" a proper term for the activity of jumping a rope (or ropes)?

Sorry to ask three questions in one.
