Word describing a characteristic

Is there a word to describe the characteristic of someone who really cares about their image, what others think about them, afraid to lose face, etc.. E.g. someone who pretends talking on a phone with friends to make themselves appear not a loner in certain situations, lie about how many presents they received for Christmas when in fact they got none, etc..
