Word Choice/Synonym

Hi, just wondering, is there another way of saying "made his way into" here that would require less words? I'm not sure entered conveys a sense of movement and it's all I can think of.

He was overwhelmed, and muttered a series of nonsensical words as he made his way into his chamber.
