Word Choice / Meaning

I wrote this sentence in the hope that it would not provide any information about the character's class. However, someone said to me that the use of the word "discord" suggested that he is middle/upper class. Is this in any way true? Surely poor people can experience discord too? Thanks in advance!

"An elderly man wandered through a dim close in Edinburgh’s old town, the discord in his mind reflected in his staggered movement."

sailsofoblivion However, someone said to me that the use of the word "discord" suggested that he is middle/upper class. I disagree. I can't see why "discord" should be solely associated with any particular socioeconomic class!
